about

The Black Dog All-Stars- Featuring Jace Everett.

This song was written by Andrew Harwood, John Hogg, Dave Eringa, Sean Genockey and Jace Everett. The lyric reflects the difficulty of the times across the globe. From the pandemic to climate change, economic disparity to political oppression, and a growing insecurity about the future. However, by the time a video was being considered Mr. George Floyd had been murdered by the police.

The inclusion of imagery from various protests and issues is meant to be representative of the times. But to be clear, the purpose is not to conflate BLM with ANY OTHER organization. BLM is it's own movement and concern.

Proceeds of this recording will be donated to BLM’s #WhatMatters2020 which is a campaign aimed to maximize the impact of the BLM movement by galvanizing BLM supporters and allies to the polls in the 2020 U.S Presidential Election to build collective power and ensure candidates are held accountable for the issues that systematically and disproportionately impact Black and under-served communities across the nation.

lyrics

No easy answers
no simple fix
From the desert to the ocean
Cities to the sticks
Fearful fevers climbing
Rising by degrees
Keep your head on a swivel
Say your prayers on your knees

Somebody call the doctor
Can he put my mind at rest?
Who’s clawing at the backdoor
What’s that pounding in my chest

From the man on the corner in the Long black coat
To the governor in his office
And his boys that buy the vote
To the woman in the alley
With a little one to feed
Everybody knows now
These are dark dark days indeed

Some said they saw it coming
Don’t know What to believe
But, Don’t matter now
We’re just trying to breathe
We can dream of the future
We can pray this will pass
But yesterday’s gone
Ain’t no one living in the past

Guess God’s in his heaven
Wonder just what He sees
If He was here now I’d let him feel my disease

From the man on the corner in the Long black coat
To the governor in his office
And his boys that buy the vote
To the soldier in the desert
Where the child sees him bleed
Everybody knows now
These are dark dark days indeed

You hear some footsteps and a Knock at the door
But the doctor ain’t coming
Everybody hit the floor

From the man on the corner in the Long black coat
To the governor in his office
And the dusty rolled-up note
To the woman in the alley
With a little child to feed
Everybody knows now
These are dark dark days indeed
